An **abdominal pelvic scan**, is a rather frequent diagnostic procedure, that gynecologists
perform on a day to day basis. Using the right ultrasound scanner to assess organs
and structures within the female pelvis.

A **pelvic ultrasound** allows quick visualization of the female pelvic organs and
structures including the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes and ovaries.

### **Which ultrasound scanner is suitable for abdominal pelvic imaging?**

The [wireless ultrasound scanner](https://sifsof.com/product-category/ultrasound-scanner/wireless-ultrasound-scanner/)
the [SIFULTRAS-5.2](https://sifsof.com/product/wireless-convex-portable-ultrasound-sifultras-5-2/)
is the most suitable model for an **abdominal pelvic ultrasound**. The SIFULTRAS-
5.2 provides qualitative and quantitative data about the [female pelvic](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/pelvic-ultrasound).

Which are : Endometrium, Uterus (also known as the womb), Ovaries, Cervix, Vagina,
Vulva.

The portable ultrasound device helps the practitioner Find problems with the structure
of the uterus or ovaries, look for cancer in the ovaries, uterus, or bladder, find
an intrauterine device (IUD). In addition, it helps them look for growths like noncancerous
tumors, fibroids, or cysts, discover the cause of abnormal bleeding or pain, valuate
or treat fertility problems…

The SIFULTRAS-5.2 does not only aid doctors in monitoring baby’s growth during pregnancy,
Check for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID — an infection of the uterus, ovaries,
or fallopian tubes), diagnose an ectopic pregnancy (a fertilized egg that grows
outside of the uterus), but also find a tissue sample to remove from the uterus
during an endometrial biopsy.

Another type of ultrasound used for pelvic examination is [Doppler ultrasound](https://sifsof.com/product-category/ultrasound-scanner/color-doppler-ultrasound-scanner/),
sometimes called a duplex study, used to show the speed and direction of blood flow
in certain pelvic organs. Unlike a standard ultrasound, some sound waves during
the Doppler exam are audible.

Although, pelvic exams may be performed in 2 methods : a transabdominal (through
the abdomen) and a transvaginal (through the vagina). Which we’ll discuss in another
article.

Abdominal pelvic exam may be performed by an obstetrician, gynecologist or [OB/GYN](https://sifsof.com/product-category/doctor-specialties/gynecologist/)
specializes in reproductive organs.
