An ultrasound-guided **biopsy** is a medical test used to learn more about a lesion
or mass. The goal of a biopsy is to remove a sample of tissue for testing in a laboratory.

### **Which ultrasound scanner for ultrasound-guided Biopsy purposes?**

Our doctor clients choose the [SIFULTRAS-3.5](https://sifsof.com/product/linear-handheld-wifi-ultrasound-scanner-10-12-14-mhz-sifultras-3-5/),
which is built with a needle guide.

The use an ultrasound scanner aids to accurately guide a needle to the site of
the biopsy. This image-guided biopsy, combines the use of ultrasound with either
a Fine Needle Aspiration or Core Needle Biopsy.

The use of SIFULTRAS-3.5 helps the practitioner locate a lump or abnormality and
remove a tissue sample for examination under a microscope.

Ultrasound is used to guide a needle to the area of concern.  The practitioner
will identify the area to be biopsied. While scanning the region, the Radiologist
will insert the needle into the area to be biopsied. When the needle is in place,
a sample will be taken and the Radiologist will remove the needle.

**The ultrasound scanner** SIFULTRAS-3.5 guide a needle to the site of the biopsy.

The needle will then be used to remove a tissue sample. This test is most often
used for[ **lymph node**](https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/lymph-nodes#:~:text=Lymph%20nodes%20are%20small%20lumps,if%20you%20have%20an%20infection.),**
breast**, and **liver biopsies**. A **biopsy **can also help diagnose abnormalities
such as infection, inflammation or malignancy.
