**Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELT)** is a minimally invasive treatment of varicose
veins. Commonly performed by a phlebologist, interventional radiologist or a vascular
surgeon.

Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELT) treats varicose veins using an optical fiber that
is inserted into the vein-to-be-treated and a laser light, normally in the infrared
portion of the spectrum, beams into the interior of the vein.

This causes the vein to contract and the optical fiber is then slowly withdrawn.
Some minor complications can occur, including thrombophlebitis, pain, hematoma,
edema and infection, which can lead to cellulitis.

For this procedure, the doctor can use a [Vein Finder](https://sifsof.com/product-category/vein-finder-probe/)
to successfully perform this operation. Being used on the skin, the Vein Finder,
such as the [SIFVEIN-7.1](https://sifsof.com/product/handheld-near-infrared-vein-finder-sifvein-7-1/)
produced a projection of the venous map on the patient’s skin or the screen, providing
the doctor with information about the right vein to insert the optic fiber into.

Using this device, the doctor can assure the fast workflow, along with the puncture
success rate and patients’ satisfaction.
