Lichen sclerosus (LIE-kun skluh-ROW-sus) is an uncommon condition that creates patchy,
white skin that appears thinner than normal. It usually affects the genital and
anal areas.

Anyone can get lichen sclerosus but postmenopausal women are at higher risk.

The cause of lichen sclerosus is not yet known. However, an overactive immune system
or an imbalance of hormones may play a role. Also, previous skin damage at a particular
site on your skin may increase the likelihood of lichen sclerosus at that location.

Signs and symptoms usually affect the skin of the genital and anal areas, but may
also affect the skin of the upper body, upper arms and breasts. They may include:

 *       Redness

 *    Itching (pruritus), which can be severe

 *   Discomfort or pain

 *    Smooth white patches on your skin

 *    Blotchy, wrinkled patches

 *    Tearing or bleeding

 *    In severe cases, bleeding, blistering or ulcerated sores

 *   Painful sex

Recently, two small studies demonstrated that fractional CO 2 laser (FxCO 2 ) therapy
appears to be a promising treatment modality to treat lichen sclerosus.

These studies demonstrated that FxCO 2 treatment may stimulate protein synthesis,
accelerate tissue reconstruction, and decrease lichenification.

For this specific reason the medical company SIFSOF has developed a laser device
that performs an adequate treatment with the exact wavelengths and power requirements.

The device described  is [Smart Medical 26.2Watt Diode Laser SIFLASER-3.2](https://sifsof.com/product/smart-medical-diode-laser-siflaser-3-2/),
one of the most efficient and highly recommended laser machines when it comes to
the treatment of in the anogenital area .

This device has 4 wavelengths: 635nm, 810nm, 980nm and 1064nm with Maximum power
up to 26.2Watt.

With such a quality, it will offer extremely adjustable, easy and friendly aesthetic
operation that greatly matches with the gravity of the patient’s case.

Added to that, doctors could easily track treatment times, save protocols and view
patient profiles in the laser, and even update laser software through the internet.

Being a dermatological issue in essence, this Laser’s light will be placed against
the affected skin area, followingly, the photons penetrate several centimeters and
get absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy producing part of a cell. This energy
fuels many positive physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal
cell morphology and function.

Correspondingly, the SIFLASER-3.2 significantly increases the formation of new capillaries
in damaged tissue which will speed up the healing process and consequently reduce
this disease’s affected traces.

If lichen sclerosus (LS)  is left untreated, then it can result in serious skin
damage. Nevertheless, for this reason, urgent treatment is a must. The effective
treatment, however, necessitates a highly professional device.

Based on all the above-mentioned characteristics, the diode Laser system SIFLASER-
3.2 seems to be the most suitable device for diagnosing and treating lichen sclerosus(
LS) issues.
