**Varicose Veins** are enlarged, swollen and twisting veins, often colored blue
or dark purple.

This happens when faulty valves in the veins allow blood to flow in the wrong direction.

As a treatment, [phlebologists](https://www.veinhealth.com.au/what-does-a-phlebologist-do/)
inject a chemical solution into the varicose vein, helping clots to dissolve and
fade within a two-week period.

For this procedure, doctors can use a [vein finder](https://sifsof.com/product-category/vein-finder-probe/)
to operate faster and more efficiently.

[SIFSOF](https://sifsof.com/) vein finders make this complicated process way easier
and simpler. For instance, the [SIFVEIN-5.2](https://sifsof.com/product/medical-vein-finder-sifvein-5-2/)
emits a non-invasive infrared light with different wavelengths, making projection
depth adaptable depending on the conditions of the veins.

The [handheld vein detector ](https://sifsof.com/product-category/vein-finder-probe/portable-vein-finder/)
SIFVEIN-5.2 projects a map of the veins on the patient’s skin, giving it a contrasted
color which helps the operator to better detect the right veins, assuring the success
of this procedure, while limiting failed punctures and decreasing patients’ dissatisfaction.

Vein viewers can be helpful with elderly patients or people with dark skin or any
conditions that can result in difficult venous access.
