Cannulation of veins and arteries is an important aspect of patient care for the
administration of fluids and medications and for monitoring purposes.

The use of **Ultrasound in Vascular Access** enhances the safety of **Vascular
Punctures**. Not only, by decreasing failed puncture attempt rates but also the
complications and costs of this medical approach.

### **Which ultrasound scanner do doctors use for Vascular Access?**

The use of the appropriate **ultrasound probe** reduces **catheter placement failure
rates** and the **relative risk of mechanical complications. **

These complications may occur more often with less experienced operators, challenging
patient anatomy (obesity, cachexia, distorted, tortuous or thrombosed vascular anatomy,
congenital anomalies such as persistent left superior vena cava), compromised procedural
settings (mechanical ventilation or emergency), and the presence of comorbidity (
coagulopathy, emphysema)….

For the goal of making this operation easier, we’ve developed devices to **stabilize
the angle of the needle insertion into the skin**. The **color doppler portable
ultrasound scanner [SIFULTRAS-5.34](https://sifsof.com/product/linear-wireless-ultrasound-scanner-sifultras-5-34/)**
works in a way that the needle level touches the ultrasound beam in a pre-established
depth.

The supplemental use of color flow Doppler to confirm presence and direction of
blood flow requires an understanding of the mechanisms and limitations of Doppler
color flow analysis and display.

The use of **an ultrasound scanner** reduces **complications and vascular puncture
costs** as well as increasing the procedure’s success rate. Hence, it is a **vital
equipment** in the routine practice of this procedure.

Vascular access procedures are most often performed by a specially trained interventional
[radiologist](https://sifsof.com/product-category/doctor-specialties/radiologist/)
in an interventional radiology suite or occasionally in the operating room.
