Laser Therapy for Hailey-Hailey Disease

Hailey-Hailey disease (HDD), also known as benign chronic pemphigus, is a rare skin condition that usually appears in early adulthood.

The disorder is characterized by red, raw, and blistered areas of skin that occur most often in skin folds, such as the groin, armpits, neck, and under the breasts.

This disease is caused by a genetic change (mutation) in the ATP2C1 gene. The ATP2C1 gene contains instructions for creating (encoding) a protein that acts as a calcium and magnesium pump in the cells.

In some cases, pemphigus vulgaris will go away once the trigger is removed. Other cases, however, require surgeries, but most often laser surgeries since they have been the most preferred modality for treating recalcitrant plaques in HHD.

In fact, carbon dioxide laser ablation can allow the treatment of large areas in HHD with excellent aesthetic and functional outcomes. Nevertheless, not all laser devices are fit enough to perform these sensitive functions in a professional way.

The Smart Medical 26.2Watt Diode Laser SIFLASER-3.2, however, has been recently recommended as one of the most suitable devices that might heal the signs of such an issue.

This device has 4 wavelengths: 635nm, 810nm, 980nm and 1064nm with Maximum power up to 26.2Watt.

Accordingly, it will offer extremely adjustable, easy and friendly aesthetic operation that greatly matches with the gravity of the patient’s case.

Added to that, doctors could easily track treatment times, save protocols and view patient profiles in the laser, and even update laser software through the internet.

HHD issue is initially a dermatological/aesthetic issue. Accordingly, this Laser’s light will be placed against the skin, followingly, the photons penetrate several centimeters and get absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy producing part of a cell. This energy fuels many positive physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function.

In this way, the SIFLASER-3.2 significantly increases the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue which will speed up the healing process and consequently reduce this disease’s red traces.

Based on all the above-mentioned characteristics, the diode Laser system SIFLASER-3.2 appears to be the most suitable device for treating HHD cosmetic skin issues.
