Laser Treatment Epidermolytic Ichthyosis

Epidermolytic ichthyosis (EI) is a rare, genetic skin disorder. It becomes apparent at birth, or shortly after birth, with reddening, scaling, and severe blistering of the skin. More specifically, Epidermolytic hyperkeratosis (EHK) presents as erythematous, scaly, crusted plaques.

Hyperkeratosis (thickening of the skin) develops within months and worsens over time.

This disease is caused by missense mutations (where a single nucleotide is changed) in the keratin genes keratin 1 (KRT1) and keratin 10 (KRT10).

There’s no cure for ichthyosis. Topical treatments are ineffective and, while surgical excision is a more definitive treatment, it causes scar formation.

In recent decades, however, Epidermolytic Ichthyosis has been treated with various types of laser therapy that eventually showed a significant efficacy.

In this light, the medical company SIFSOF has developed a laser device that performs an adequate Epidermolytic Ichthyosis treatment that is greatly adaptable to this issue’s medical requirements.

The device described is called the Smart Medical 26.2Watt Diode Laser SIFLASER-3.2, one of the most efficient and highly recommended laser machines for Epidermolytic Ichthyosis treatment.

This device possesses 4 wavelengths: 635nm, 810nm, 980nm and 1064nm with Maximum power of up to 26.2Watt. With such quality, it will offer an extremely adjustable, easy and friendly aesthetic operation that greatly matches with the sensitivity and gravity of Epidermolytic Ichthyosis patients’ different cases.

Another advantage is that dermatologists could easily track treatment times, save protocols and view patient profiles in the laser, and even update laser software through the internet.

To explain in more detail, this Laser’s light will be placed against the damaged skin tissues, followingly, the photons penetrate several centimetres and get absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy-producing part of a cell. This energy fuels many positive physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function.

Correspondingly, the SIFLASER-3.2 will significantly speed up the healing process and consequently reduce this disease’s affected skin surfaces and regenerate new undamaged skin tissues.

Epidermolytic Ichthyosis is a serious skin issue. Treatment is undoubtedly a must. Laser treatment in particular can be the treatment of choice for certain selected cases as it is well tolerated and has proven to be safe and effective in the long term.

Yet, a highly professional laser machine is needed here to guarantee the best result possible.  Based on all the above-mentioned characteristics, the diode Laser system SIFLASER-3.2 can be the most suitable device for diagnosing and treating Epidermolytic Ichthyosis disease, especially since no other treatments have yet proven effective in this setting.
